Which is?

Scarring is the entire process of repairing the body. On the skin, it appears as a defined line, and may be very or little noticeable. In all plastic surgery there will be a scar, and its quality will depend on the patient’s healing nature (genetic inheritance).

What treatment is used to correct the scar?

Initially, a medical evaluation is necessary to check the quality of the scar and the possibility of treatment. Some acquired scars (trauma, burns, etc.) have a more complex treatment. However, the plastic surgery performed aims to hide the final scars.

Through plastic surgery, is it possible to hide a scar?

As already said, in all surgery there will result in a scar. Plastic surgery seeks, through appropriate techniques, to best hide a scar, which in some cases due to the patient’s healing quality may be apparent.

How will I know my type of healing?

Some indications guide the surgeon about the healing nature of the patient, they are: holes in the ears, previous cuts and scars, genetic and family alterations, etc. With these data the surgeon will have some tips regarding the patient’s healing. However, in some cases some new scars may turn into keloids.

What are keloids?

Keloids are scars deformed by the action of the patient’s body. They are scars formed with the excess of collagen resulting in the end of enlarged, “thick”, painful and itchy scars (with itching).

How to fix them?

Keloid correction is often complex and time-consuming. Treatment consists of applying medications in an initial stage, and surgical correction in a final stage.
