The flaccidity of the eyelid skin and the formation of “crow’s feet”, usually occur after the age of 30 and are mainly directed by genetic predisposition, where we will find more or less formation of wrinkles.

 

Does the correction require surgery?

Yes. Surgical correction is simple and can be performed with local or general anesthesia. In the evaluation carried out in the office, the association with fillers (bioplathy) and / or botulinum toxin can also be decided.

 

How is the eyelid surgery process?

The surgery has a duration of approximately 2 hours, and like all surgery, preoperative exams / evaluation are requested. During the surgical process, exuberant tissues (skin and muscles) are removed, as well as a treatment of the eyelid bags.

 

How are the resulting scars?

Some surgical procedures, where we treat only the eyelid bags, can result in a scar inside the eyelid (no scar on the skin). In the most frequent cases, where excess skin is removed plus muscle treatment, a very little noticeable scar is located on the fold of the upper and lower eyelids.

 

How is the patient’s postoperative period?

After a 4-day rest period, where we try to reduce the swelling using cold or cold compresses, the stitches are removed. After that period we recommend the use of sunglasses, to hide purple marks and swelling (which will disappear naturally). In this way the patient returns to his routine normally.
